Launching Fall For Smiles

We are thrilled to inform you about the excitement this month at Josey Lane! Once again, we are joining Oral Health America and other dental organizations on the mission of promoting greater oral health.

Oral Health America was founded in 1955 with a clear aim to support dental health education and research. This organization is well known as the engine behind the development of multiple oral health awareness projects across the country. Fall For Smiles is their campaign with the greatest renown. The OHA launched this campaign in 2010, and has celebrated it annually in the month of September. And, though it primarily focuses on oral health education of school aged kids in the U.S., it’s grown into a campaign for the whole family.

Fall for Smiles 2017

Fall For Smiles 2017
This year’s campaign is called Our Future. Our Families. The OHA has started a dialog about Oral Health Equity, a concept oriented around the discrepancies in equal access to oral healthcare based on age, region, and other factors.

Oral Health America’s goal is to educate the public about the importance of proper oral health habits. The OHA reminds you to pay attention to how you brush, how many times you brush, proper flossing, what you eat, how often do you visit your dentist and why you should quit smoking. And though this is a lot to take on, the OHA has successfully promoted these practices throughout the country through their energetic and engaging campaign.

Networking with people across United States, along with providing of educational resources, the OHA is happy to continue increasing oral health awareness in 2017 with their Fall For Smiles campaign, particularly among the risk groups that are now more vulnerable to dental diseases.

Advocacy Week
Advocacy Week, a part of the Fall For Smiles campaign, is an opportunity for all of us to inform our friends and family about the prevention of dental disease, and the importance of proper oral healthcare. Advocacy Week encourages people to persuade policymakers and representatives of their local communities to join the dialogue and spread awareness about the importance of oral health, particularly as it relates to discrepancies in access to dental care.

How can I participate?
Taking initiative can be as simple as starting a conversation with your friends and family. Or, you can work your best to be the example of oral hygiene at home. If you want more ideas, visit the OHA page for the Fall for Smiles campaign.

You can also share, post and comment on social media, turning your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles into something that truly inspires your friends and followers to smile.

The Fall For Smiles website and social media profiles offer you all the information and content you need to educate your family and friends about good oral hygiene. And Fall For Smiles educational materials make it easy for you to make a real difference in the promotion of healthy teeth and gums. But remember, the commitment to oral hygiene starts at home.
