DFW Gyms You’ve Got to Know About

You made the resolution to get back in shape in the new year. But halfway through the month, your daily gym workouts are losing their pizazz, and you are now desperately searching for another heartbeat-raising activity that can keep you engaged for at least the next few weeks.

Have you heard about these DFW gyms?

Our fast-paced culture has led us to want to continually try new things, accomplish new challenges, and push farther and faster than before. Unfortunately, these motivating qualities are offset by our inability to stay focused on one thing for long enough. This is why big box gyms have taken a backseat to new, ultra-focused small gyms. From cycling to dancing, there is enough variety in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex to keep you sweating in 2018. Below are our favorite places to get fit this year.

Cycling

Don’t let the slick cycling studios prevent you from giving this low-impact exercise a try. While the bikes appear intimidating to the uninitiated, those with bad knees that have given up running might find this high-intensity workout the next best thing. The studios listed below welcome newcomers and will have trainers help you set up your bike for the perfect fit.

The Ride House is the perfect combination of cardio and chic. Underneath their crystal chandeliers you will sweat through combination workouts that include time on a bike and time on a mat or TRX equipment. Each class ends with stretching to ensure you are ready to strap in for the class tomorrow.

In addition to a great cardio workout, Zyn22 offers the opportunity to sculpt your newly created muscles. This local fitness studio promises workouts that are both high-energy and always new. It’s important to switch up you routine to continually push your body to avoid plateauing.

Full-body workouts

With packed schedules, we don’t have hours to spend at the gym lifting weights and completing an interval cardio workout. Full-body workouts are great for those who can only get to the gym 3-4 days a week, and allow for quicker muscle recovery. The studios below are great for those craving a high-intensity workout or for those that want to mix up their routine every single day.

Treadbarre is designed to be your all-in-one workout regimen that combines cardiovascular exercise, strength training and stretching. Each class uses the treadmills, pilates equipment and free weights to help you max out your potential.

Beyond Fitness has multiple metroplex locations and has taken an innovate approach to high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Combing pilates, cardio intervals and strength exercises, this studio has billed their routine as safer, but just as transformative as other workouts. Ask about their human-sized hamster wheel that is sure to make you sweat!

Try something new

If you’re discouraged and want to ditch the treadmill and throw away your yoga mat (neither of which we recommend), then give one of these alternative workouts a try before you call it quits.

At City Surf Fitness you don’t need your swimsuit to hang ten. Dallas may be hours from the beach, but here you have the opportunity to practice your surfing skills without the fear of sharks or sunburns. This workout is making waves and allows you to mix movements associated with pilates, yoga, and barre in a 50-minute workout that guarantees you will increase muscle tone and strength.

At Summit Climbing Gym you can get high without flying to Colorado. This rock climbing gym offers classes for the whole family. Rock climbing is a great way to strengthen not only your muscles, but your mind as well. This sport requires intense concentration and ingenuity to climb around hurdles and make it to the top. Sign up for a trial and expect to get hooked!

The DFW metroplex is full of exciting, innovative exercise classes. Don’t get burned out by doing the same routine over and over. Check out some of these places and let us know about others you discover! At Josey Lane, we’re excited for 2018 to bring the new, healthiest you.
